Day 35
Hello from the Invictus Atlantic living quarters!
A third Marlin strike for Invictus Atlantic, 13.15 today. And this was a massive one, at least 10 feet.
Pierced the Aft cabin at the waterline with Jim in the cabin, but no injuries. A jagged hole roughly the size and shape of a thumb needing 2 bungs and putty inside and out.
All repaired now and on our way, but very low on putty now if there’s another one.
Marlin strike external mend photos. Jim was in the cabin when it struck and with great quick thinking…stuck his fingers in the hole 👏👏👏. Quickly followed by wooden bungs and repair putty on the inside. Jim and I then checked the hull for other holes and put extra putty around the bungs on the outside to seal the hole.
The Marlin was massive! 6ft body (you could see it’s silver body on both sides of the boat as it circled post strike) plus tail and a 3 ft spike it was probably about 10ft long! Incredible creature….but enough now 🤣
We were back on the oars within 40 mins 👏👏👏
